In rural Anosy, the Digital Learning component of Project Masoandro (“sun” in Malagasy) equips primary schools with innovative solar-powered educational technology. Record-breaking dry weather and unseasonably strong winds created ideal conditions for wildfires here, devastating much of our Ala Programme forest corridors. Persistent dry weather here threatens the safety and livelihoods of already vulnerable, under-resourced communities, as as we look ahead to what is likely to be another difficult year for Madagascar's south.
